I used to think that introverts are people who are shy or some nerds who love being alone. I was totally wrong after I realized all these are just myths about introverts and how the society today labels them. In fact, introverts are not weird but they're just different.
Little did I know I was actually more inclined towards introversion until a time where I felt that I am more comfortable and focused when I'm in a low-key environment.
Of course, not all the time. I do love outdoor activities and fun that the world offers.
Maybe I just work best when I'm alone,
But that doesn't stop me from making friends and exploring the world.
I believe introverts are not people who don’t like to talk, but rather people who prefer
face to face real conversations over text messages with cold double ticks
chill coffee sessions over loud bar hangouts
a handful of true friends over numberless hi-bye friends
solo adventures over group tours
chill time in a cozy room over outdoor rave parties
meaningful birthday celebrations over lavish birthday parties
heart to heart talk over superficial chats
penning down thoughts over telling it out loud publicly
No one is 100% introvert or extrovert. A part of me loves socializing, meeting new friends, getting involved in the community but a slightly bigger part of me just love being with people who I’m comfortable with, doing what I do best.
It’s time to debunk the stereotypes that introverts are weird nerds but rather people who have a different way of being social.
Till next time,
yinhuey
